PROJECT 4

The Warfield Tower and Theater is one of the most significant and historic buildings in the heart of the City of San Francisco. The building was built in 1921 as a six story theater with a ten story tower. The building is a Non-Ductile concrete shear wall in the short direction and a steel frame encased in concrete in the long direction. The ten story tower was purchased and went thru a major remodeling and renovation beginning in early 2013. One of the phases of remodeling was to add a cantilever concrete deck over the existing theater roof on the 7th floor without adding a gravity load to the existing roof of the theater. Matrix company undertook the design and construction of this project in late 2012 in addition to the major structural renovation of the tower.
